Parallax Interactive, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates the "Are You Fluent?" mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect an app account identifier and authentication token to manage your session and save your progress. If you link Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, we collect the account identifier, email address, and display name returned by that provider when available.

Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, including:

• Language pairs and difficulty tiers selected
• Quiz answers and scores
• Streak and calendar data
• App session duration and feature usage

Device Information: We collect device locale to optimize your experience and set default language preferences. If you explicitly enable push notifications, we collect a random app installation identifier, Firebase Cloud Messaging token, and platform so we can deliver notifications.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the App's functionality
• Save your learning progress, streaks, and preferences
• Personalize content based on your selected language pair and difficulty tier
• Maintain account security, sessions, and notification preferences
• Communicate important updates about the App when you opt in to notifications

3. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY

Your data is stored on secure servers. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission and secure server infrastructure. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. DATA RETENTION

We retain your account data and learning progress for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account in the App from Settings or use our account deletion page to request deletion outside the App.

5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The App may use third-party services for:

• Content Generation: We use third-party services to generate AI-assisted quiz content, explanations, and artwork. We may send source material, target language, difficulty tier, and generation instructions to these services. We do not send account identifiers, email addresses, display names, quiz answers, progress, notification tokens, or device identifiers to AI content generation providers
• Firebase Cloud Messaging: If you enable notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging is used to deliver push notifications
• Google Sign-In: If you choose to link your Google account, Google provides authentication data so we can connect your account
• Sign in with Apple: If you choose to link your Apple account, Apple provides authentication data so we can connect your account
• App Distribution: The App is distributed through Google Play and the Apple App Store, which have their own privacy practices

Some lessons are inspired by public current-event sources and may show source/date attribution. These sources are used for educational language context; the App is not a news service. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third-party services.

6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

7. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Data portability

8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App or on our website with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
